How to use these SMSF tools

Reviewed August 2026. This hub is current for FY2026-27 where contribution caps, thresholds, pension figures, compliance dates, or ATO settings are referenced.

The SMSF tools hub brings together reference pages, calendars, planners, and plain-English lookup resources for Australian trustees. It is intended to help you check a rule, date, cap, or planning input before you speak with your accountant, auditor, adviser, or administrator.

Use the SMSF Guides hub when a tool result needs deeper context. For example, use contribution tools alongside the SMSF Contribution Strategies Guide, and use the pension planner alongside the SMSF Pension Guide.

Use these tools when you need to check a date, cap, rule, definition, or compliance setting before reviewing a transaction or preparing SMSF records.

Use these calculators to model common SMSF planning scenarios at a high level. They are general information tools, not personal recommendations.

Need help using these SMSF tools?

Quick answers for choosing a tool, understanding calculator limits, and checking how current the figures are.

Which SMSF tool should I use first?

For key dates, start with the SMSF Compliance Calendar. For contribution planning, use the SMSF Contribution Caps page before the Annual Contribution Planner. For pension phase questions, use the SMSF Pension and Retirement Phase Planner together with the SMSF Pension Guide.

Are these official ATO calculators?

No. These are independent Super Informed tools built for general information. They help trustees understand common SMSF rules, dates, caps, and planning concepts, but they do not replace ATO guidance, a registered tax agent, an SMSF auditor, or licensed financial advice.

Do the SMSF calculators store what I enter?

The contribution planner and pension planner run in your browser. The inputs you type into the calculators are not saved to Super Informed servers by the calculator.

How current are the SMSF tools?

The hub and linked tools are reviewed when key ATO rates, contribution caps, pension drawdown rates, transfer balance cap settings, and SMSF compliance dates change. Each individual tool shows its own review or update context.
